Our Background…My husband Bill and I are 2nd generation dog show exhibitors & breeders of pure-bred dogs.  Bill’s parents & my parents were professional handlers.  Both Bill’s mother & my mother bred Cocker Spaniels.  Bill’s father bred German Shorthaired Pointers & my father bred Dachshunds.  So the “World of Dog Shows” came naturally to Bill & me.  After college, we followed in our parent’s footsteps & became all breed professional handlers as well.  Bill bred English Pointers under the prefix of “Heathercreek”.  I bred a couple of Cocker litters to continue my mother’s “Seenar” breeding line.  Once married, Bill & I decided to “retire” from dog handling & start our own business.  We soon became blessed with the birth of our daughter Rachel in 1999.  In that same year, I applied for my AKC judging license.  To date, I’m licensed to judge 22 Sporting breeds, Dachshunds, & Junior Showmanship.

Our Introduction to Cavaliers…A dear friend & prior client of ours named Connie Taylor bred Pointers like my husband Bill.  She kept telling us about her new found love, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  Connie had imported 2 Cavaliers from friends in Australia.  She wanted us to meet a famous, top-winning Cavalier of the day who was competing at a show not far from our home.  So that sunny August day in 2001, I packed up our daughter Rachel & her stroller, drove to the local dog show to meet this dog named “Andy”.  This extraordinary dog exemplified the meaning of “Cavalier”…when Rachel & I observed him in the exercise pen, he told the dogs walking by who he was in no uncertain terms. Yet once Andy noticed Rachel was close enough to devote attention to him, he quietly walked over to us, sat down beside Rachel & offered the top of his head for her to pat, a true gentleman indeed.  From that moment on, I was “hooked” on this wonderful breed, thanks to our friend Connie suggesting this chance meeting.

Our Start in Cavaliers…We are privileged to have obtained in 2001 our first Cavalier from HMS Cavaliers – Dale Martin & Kim Murphy.  Our foundation girl, AKC CH. HMS Pure Joy, is sired by an English import USA & AKC CH. Annatika Andreas, aka “Andy”.  Andy is a multiple Best in Show winner, 3 time Westminster K.C. Best of Breed winner, National Club Best of Breed winner…the list goes on & on. We have co-bred 3 litters with HMS Cavaliers (1 by CH. HMS Pure Joy & 2 by CH. HMS Celestial Grace). Their mentoring & friendship along the way has been instrumental to our current breeding program.  We are truly grateful Dale & Kim entrusted us with sharing their wonderful Cavaliers.  Their extensive knowledge of the breed has proven to be a priceless resource to us.  We are also fortunate to live in a region of the country that has several, well-established top Cavalier breeders.  One of which is Covington Cavaliers – Heidi & Greg Mohn in Orting, WA.  We co-owned a girl with them, Covington Had Me at Hello, called “Haddie”.  In our quest to establish our own foundation stock, Heidi of Covington provided us with an excellent quality girl…an opportunity we greatly appreciate.   From this litter out of "Justin" and "Haddie", we have kept a girl named Creekside Keepsake, called "Trinket". Heidi’s vast knowledge of the breed and guidance are assets we value highly.

Our Breeding Program…Exhibiting at dog shows is an essential element behind Creekside’s breeding program.  Creekside is a HOBBY breeder, not a kennel business…just having 1 litter a year or so for show conformation purposes.  Our emphasis is on “soundness of mind & body”…breeding dogs that excel in structure, temperament, & health.  Potential show quality puppies from our litters are retained for future evaluation.  The rest of the litter is placed in selected, pre-screened companion homes for pet &/or obedience/agility/therapy dog purposes.  Our breeding stock are properly health screened & certified for hearts, eyes, hips, & patellae.
